Program Title:
Race!
Detailed Program Description:
Race! is a program that lets the user compete in miniature car
races against other users or the computer. The cars can accelerate,
decelerate, and turn through twisting tracks but many obstacles block
the path of the user's car including walls, slopes, gates, tornadoes,
and gas slicks. Fortunately, after each couple of successful races,
the cars can be improved in acceleration, speed, traction, and
helicopter speed. Race! also lets the user construct his own tracks
to compete on in case the premade tracks become too easy or boring.
The program is fairly user friendly because it is menu driven and
keeps the user informed of errors.
Who is the intended user?
People who have some leisure time or who want to relax are the
intended users.
If this is an update, improvements over old version:
This is the first version of this program.
Unique features of the program (why is your program better?):
The program is very entertaining because it can be played by up
to four people simultaneously, it can be played by one person, or it
can be watched in a demo mode. It also has a long shelf life because
the user can create his own tracks to race on. Also, the computer
controlled cars become more challenging after each race has been
successfully won. Therefore, I hope it would take a long time before
the user would become tired of this game.
Program's capacity or limitations (i.e. how many records it will
hold, situations or conditions where the program won't work, features
described or implied above that only come with registration):
A maximum of 99 tracks can be made on one disk. The first 19 are
filled with tracks that have been premade by myself.
Does your program require any special system requirements other than
256K memory, one floppy disk drive, and a monochrome monitor. If yes,
please list them:
A Color Graphics Adapter and color monitor (Enhanced Graphics
Adapter is optional) are required. A Hercules Graphics Adapter might be
able to run Race! if a CGA simulator is purchased. Race! requires
MS-DOS or PC-DOS 2.0 or later.
How to start the program:
On the CGA version, the user must type RACE. On the EGA version,
the user must type EGARACE.
What is the registration fee for your program?
